Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will reportedly receive a Venusaur-themed content drop soon. That's according to a newly emerged leak showing a handful of new Pokemon TCG Pocket cosmetics, which are expected to arrive in early December 2024.
Developed by Creatures Inc. In collaboration with DeNa, Pokemon TCG Pocket was released for Android and iOS devices on October 30. It immediately established itself as a major success, with some third-party estimates suggesting that Pokemon TCG Pocket's arrival was one of the biggest launches in mobile gaming history, revenue-wise. Although the game has already received several patches since its debut, all of those releases were exclusively focused on delivering bug fixes. Meanwhile, its first big content update is currently planned to arrive in December 2024.

Some recent datamining efforts might have uncovered a number of previously unconfirmed details concerning the upcoming update. Specifically, it appears that the hit mobile game will soon receive Venusaur-themed cosmetics, including a coin, profile icon, backdrop, card sleeves, frame, and playmat. These might replace the Meowth-themed cosmetics that have been available in the shop since launching alongside the first Pokemon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick event on November 1.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Venusaur Cosmetics Were Likely in the Works Since Before the Game Released
The new cosmetics are reportedly planned to arrive on December 6. While Pokemon TCG Pocket Venusaur decks are seeing a decent amount of play in the current meta, it's unlikely that their present popularity in any way impacted these purported arrivals. Live-service games usually have their content roadmaps mapped out at least months in advance, even if they only announce new additions close to release.
Given the game launched only two weeks ago, its developers likely wouldn’t have had time to assess the meta, adjust their content plans accordingly, and implement these cosmetics (making them dataminable) in such a short period. It's more plausible that the leaked items were in the works since before the mobile game was even released.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Is Also Getting New Cards in December 2024
The Venusaur item set won't be the only novelty that the game will introduce before the end of 2024. Publisher The Pokemon Company (TPC) has already announced that Pokemon TCG Pocket will receive new booster packs in December 2024. The update that expands the game's card pool could hence be the same one that adds the Venusaur-themed cosmetics. Beyond these upcoming arrivals, player-to-player card trading has also been confirmed to be on its way, with the current plan being to roll it out in January 2025. TPC previously said that the trading feature will be limited to select cards, albeit without elaborating on the matter.
