Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket's next expansion may have just been revealed by a reliable source, and as expected, it looks to be centered around Mega Evolution Pokemon. It's been nearly one year since Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket was first released, and the development teams at Creatures Inc. And DeNA already have some big changes prepared for the game's second year.
When Pokemon TCG Pocket was first launched on October 30, 2024, it contained 286 cards that players could collect and use to build teams with which to battle against each other, using a slightly modified set of rules from the physical Pokemon Trading Card Game. Now approaching its first anniversary, the list of available cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket is now more than five and a half times its original length, with close to 1,700 cards released so far.

Next Pokemon TCG Pocket Expansion Reportedly Called Mega Rising
With the game preparing to enter year two, reliable Pokemon leaker CentroLeaks has revealed that the next expansion will be called Mega Rising. A post made via CentroLeaks' Twitter account shows what appears to be three different packs featuring Japanese text and cover art showing stylized versions of Mega Blaziken, Mega Gyardos, and Mega Altaria. This could also indicate that, like the cards in Genetic Apex, this new set will be divided among three different packs that players can draw from, which would be the first time that's happened since launch.
While the name, cover stars, and number of packs have not been officially revealed by the development team, the approaching release of Mega Evolution cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket has been known for nearly two months. An official announcement made during the 2025 Pokemon World Championships in August confirmed that the Mega Evolution mechanic would be making its way to the mobile card battler. It also showed off three upcoming cards, which conveniently feature the three Mega Evolution Pokemon featured on the pack covers in the newly leaked image.
The worldwide release of the next expansion is set for October 29 or 30, depending on time zone. That's because when the limited-time Deluxe EX Pack was announced for Pokemon TCG Pocket, players were given notice that it would only be available for 30 days. Differing from other expansions to the game, the Deluxe EX Pack was released as a wrap-up for the A1 collection, containing variants of every previously released card from the game's first year but no functionally distinct new cards. It's also the first expansion in the game's history to be given an expiration date.
