Giovanni has been a recurring name in many Pokemon games, and Pokemon TCG Pocket fully embraces Team Rocket’s leader in its diverse card lineup. In this game, Giovanni shifts away from his typical villainous role, becoming a supportive Trainer who enhances your Active Slot’s attack damage. As for the good news, unlocking him isn’t a daunting task; you can acquire multiple copies of Giovanni relatively early. Here’s everything you need to know.

An Overview of Giovanni in Pokemon TCG Pocket
- Name and Number: Giovanni, A1, #223
- Type: Trainer Card (Supporter)
- Rarity: Two-diamond (uncommon)
- Ability: Increases the ATK DMG of your Active Pokemon by +10 for one turn.
- Board condition: You can play only one Giovanni card per turn.
- Illustrator: Hideki Ishikawa
In Pokemon TCG Pocket, Giovanni is an S-Tier Supporter who boosts your attack damage by 10 for one round. However, if you skip attacking after playing him, the buff is wasted. With a limit of two per deck, Giovanni’s maximum buff is 20—particularly valuable in early rounds.
What makes Giovanni META is his universal synergy. Regardless of your deck archetype, his effect is useful, especially when your attack falls just short of a knockout. Giovanni ensures your opponent doesn’t get a chance to retreat by delivering the decisive damage.

You can exchange 70 Pack Points for one Giovanni card. To do this, you’ll need to open at least 14 booster packs to gather the required points. Once you have enough, go to the Pack Point Exchange menu in the booster pack tab and craft Giovanni. He’ll be listed alongside other two-diamond Supporter Cards.
Crafting Giovanni’s two-star variant will cost you 1,250 Pack Points, which isn’t worth it unless you're working on one of Pokemon Pocket’s secret missions.
