Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has generated an estimated $1.3 billion in its first year on the market, dethroning Pokemon GO, new market data reveals. Japanese developer DeNA is not resting on its laurels and has already made concentrated efforts to carry this momentum into Pokemon TCG Pocket's second year.
The hit digital trading card game celebrated its first anniversary earlier today, October 30. Industry watcher estimates indicate that Pokemon TCG Pocket had the third-largest mobile game launch of all time, generating $1.9 million in revenue in its first 24 hours on the market.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Makes History With Record Year 1 Revenue
A year later, Pokemon TCG Pocket is still going strong. New data from AppMagic states that the trading card game currently sits at over $1.3 billion in total revenue, including both Android and iOS player spending. The figure indicates that it has dethroned Pokemon GO as the most successful Pokemon mobile title to date based on first-year earnings.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Made Over $8.66 Per Player Since October 2024
Pokemon TCG Pocket revenue reached $208 million in its first month and surpassed $1 billion by late May 2025, according to the same source. One week ahead of the game's first anniversary, The Pokemon Company reported that the mobile TCG had exceeded 150 million downloads. When combined with AppMagic’s revenue estimate, the milestone suggests the game generated approximately $8.66 per download. Actual per-player revenue is likely higher, as the download count includes users who installed the game on multiple devices or reinstalled it on the same device.
While Pokemon TCG Pocket may have outpaced Pokemon GO's historic first year, exceeding the lifetime performance of Niantic's hit monster-catching title will be a far more difficult task. For one, the revenue gap between the two currently stands at approximately $7.5 billion. Secondly, Pokemon GO massively benefited from the global pandemic in 2020, reaching new revenue heights as it approached its fourth anniversary. A once-in-a-lifetime shift in consumer spending during worldwide lockdowns is not something Pokemon TCG Pocket can count on replicating.

While Pokemon TCG Pocket’s monthly revenue is currently trending downward, the pattern is typical for a live-service game entering its second year. Only the most successful titles of this kind manage to surpass their first-year revenue, and even fewer do so more than once. Live-service games also tend to see spending arrive in waves, often tied to seasonal events, major updates, or both. DeNA may now be aiming to spark one such surge with the October 30 launch of a special Pokemon TCG Pocket anniversary event.
