Pokemon Unite has officially revealed a new game mode that will be coming to the MOBA in the future, featuring quicker matches aimed at racking up points quickly. The MOBA from TiMi Studios and The Pokemon Company has already seen plenty of major expansions and updates to the game since its launch in 2021. Pokemon Unite boasts a staggering roster of 65 different Pokemon for players to choose from, typically releasing new Pokemon to the game every couple months. Now, the MOBA is gearing up to add its newest playable game mode.

While Pokemon Unite continues to add new Pokemon to its roster, the MOBA currently does not offer much in the way of variety for its game modes. Unite offers three game modes with Quick Battles, Standard Battles, and Ranked Battles, with all functioning similarly and changing the number of players on a team or the stakes behind the match. Though Unite does feature multiple different maps, the core gameplay typically remains the same across its different stages. Now, however, Pokemon Unite appears to be trying something new with its next game mode.

As reported by ComicBook, Pokemon Unite recently revealed a brand-new game mode coming to the MOBA in the near future. During this weekend's Pokemon World Championships, Unite revealed its newest game mode, with each team competing to be the first to reach 500 points by securing objectives. The game mode is touted as boasting a faster style of gameplay than Pokemon Unite's standard, returning to Remoat Stadium with new wild Pokemon, berry spawns, and new buffs called "Aeos Technology." The game mode is expected to launch sometime later this year.

The addition of a new game mode to Pokemon Unite comes as the MOBA celebrated its third anniversary last month. Pokemon Unite's third anniversary festivities, which began on July 19, introduced Ho-Oh to the game as its newest playable legendary Pokemon. The event also brought other special rewards for players, including a free Charizard Unite License, a "prize machine" mini-game with past popular Holowear as rewards, and a wide array of new Holowear available through the shop.

With Pokemon Unite teasing its next new game mode, fans are expecting even more to come from the game during the conclusion of the Pokemon World Championships. Past events have featured reveals of the next Pokemon to join the roster, with 2023's event announcing the addition of Blaziken, Mimikyu, and Meowscarada. The 2024 World Championships are similarly expected to feature confirmations of the next Pokemon to join the game's growing roster. A new game mode and potential new Pokemon on the way should help Pokemon Unite maintain its popularity throughout the coming year.
