The Generation 10 Pokemon games will feature procedurally generated islands, according to some newly leaked details. The claim indicates that the next mainline entries in the long-running franchise could expand on a concept that Pokemon games had already explored during Generation 3.

On October 13, Twitter user Centro Leaks—known for compiling relatively accurate Pokemon leaks—shared a range of new alleged details about Game Freak's Generation 10 titles. Among other things, they claimed that the upcoming entries will be called Pokemon Winds and Waves and feature an "infinity" theme, as well as a setting inspired by Southeast Asia and Indonesia, in particular.

Pokemon Leak Reveals When the Gen 10 Games Are Going to Be Announced

A reliable leaker teases the day that Pokemon will finally reveal the long-awaited Generation 10 games.

Pokemon Winds and Waves Will Reportedly Feature an Infinite Archipelago

Elaborating on the infinity concept, Centro Leaks reports that the upcoming titles will have procedurally generated islands, so that their "region is technically infinite and changes." Evolution mechanics in the Gen 10 Pokemon games will reportedly follow a similar idea, with some basic Pokemon said to have "infinite variations" upon evolving. While the leaked materials refer to these creatures as "Seed Pokemon," this appears to be a literal translation of the Japanese term used for Basic Pokemon in the trading card game rather than an indication of a new Baby Pokemon category.

Pokemon Games Already Experimented With Randomized Islands

The concept of randomized areas would not be an entirely novel feature for the long-running series. Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald had something called the Mirage Island, which used a fixed layout but relied on pseudorandom number generation for determining whether it appears on a given day. The Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes replaced the Mirage Island on Route 130 with Mirage Spots, which had a bit more layout variety but implemented a similar irregular spawn mechanic.

Centro Leaks did not provide a source of their latest information batch, which is in line with their usual M.O. Many of their recently shared claims originated from the so-called Pokemon "Teraleak" that saw thousands of internal Game Freak documents surface online. Even if their latest info is accurate, there is always a chance that plans could change during development, whether by being scaled down or dropped entirely.

Game Freak has long stuck to a three-year development cycle for mainline Pokemon entries, but it is now deviating from this pattern; although Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are turning three on November 18, no new mainline titles have yet been announced. Instead, the franchise is continuing with the spin-off Pokemon Legends: Z-A, scheduled for release this Thursday, October 16. The next mainline games are not expected to launch before late 2026, though their announcement could still arrive on Pokemon Day, February 27.
