A Pokemon fan has created a wooden figure of Shuckle, revealing their impressive carving skills. Beyond showcasing their finished design, the wood carver shared some of the steps involved in crafting the real-life version of Shuckle. While Pokemon fans often share impressive artwork online, this latest wood carving has caught the attention of many in the community thanks to its adorable design.

The Gen 2 Pokemon games introduced a lot of iconic pocket monsters to the franchise. While Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Suicune gained recognition as the box art mascots for Gold, Silver, and Crystal, respectively, other Pokemon from the second generation have a loyal fan base, including Shuckle. As a Bug/Rock-type creature, Shuckle has an interesting design consisting of a red shell with yellow skin and long limbs. Recently, one fan paid tribute to this Gen 2 pocket monster.

Pokemon Fan Gives Crustle a Clever New Form

A Pokemon fan artist comes up with a clever new form for Crustle, giving the Pokemon a creepy and dangerous twist in its design.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as Ormalll shared pictures of their wood carving of Shuckle. While this tiny figurine could fit in the Reddit user’s hand, the images showed it had an impressive amount of detail. Ormalll included the iconic characteristics of Shuckle’s design, including its long, slender limbs and its shell. They even painted the wood carving, giving the Bug/Rock Pokemon yellow skin and a shell made primarily of red with areas of white.

In addition, Ormalll shared a few pictures detailing how they made the figurine. Based on the images, the Reddit user started with a block of wood and then sketched a rough outline of where they should carve based on references. Once they created the desired shape, the wood figure was then painted to match the version of Shuckle in the franchise. While not seen in the images, Ormalll likely carved the limbs and head for the Pokemon out of separate pieces of wood, which were then attached to the main block.

This impressive wood carving follows other works shared on Reddit by Ormalll. For example, they previously completed a project that involved crafting a wooden version of Pikachu. Like with Shuckle, the creator provided pictures showing the process of making the figure, including outlining, carving, and painting.

It is impressive to see the large amount of fan art that appears on the franchise's subreddit. Besides wood carvings, fans often share reimaginings of popular Pokemon, revealing what they might look like with different types and forms. Recently, many artists have been creating custom Mega evolution designs in anticipation of the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. With the game expected to add even more Mega evolutions to the franchise, fan art will likely continue to appear online in the months ahead.
