Asmongold Takes Top Spot on Twitch
Twitch streamer Asmongold takes a top spot on the streaming platform once again, surpassing some big names to take the number one spot.
On April 27, Pokimane revealed that she ended up in the emergency room while she was on a trip to China. The streamer took a selfie of herself with an IV in her arm, informing her fans that she had two kinds of infections at once, but promised that she would be fine soon. In a later post, she further explained that she had gotten both bacterial and viral infections in her throat, which she called "unlucky." Overall, the streamer spent about four hours in the hospital in Shanghai, and ended up being discharged after receiving anti-inflammatory steroids, antibiotics, and electrolytes. She added that she feels much better, and will be continuing to take medicine to improve her condition for the remainder of the week.
Sick Streamers Worry Their Fans
Those in the comments showered Pokimane in get well wishes, and many suggested that she rest up for as long as she needs. Pokimane is far from the first streamer to come down with a major illness or injury that led to them ending up in a hospital or skipping streams for a prolonged period of time. Trips to other countries have also been involved in these incidents, with notable streamer IShowSpeed also ending up in the hospital while visiting Tokyo.
In some cases, the streaming itself seems to have been part of why streamers have gotten ill, with Kai Cenat notably coughing up blood during one of his Twitch subathons. Streaming for hours on end is a common practice among Twitch content creators, with many going online every day. However, prolonged exhaustion, and subathons in particular, which often see streamers going non-stop for far longer than usual, can sometimes lead to streamers exhausting themselves and even getting sick.
While finding a balance between maintaining and growing one's audience and remaining healthy can be tricky, most fans are always supportive when their favorite streamers need a break. With any luck, Pokimane will be back to normal and her usual streaming schedule soon.
