Vampire Survivors studio Poncle is reportedly launching its own publishing arm. The small indie developer is set to expand its business following the smashing success of 2022's roguelike shoot 'em up Vampire Survivors.

Based in the UK, Poncle is a budding studio with a team of just over 25 developers. The company began as a solo venture for Luca "Poncle" Galante when he first released Vampire Survivors in early access in 2021. After its arrival on Steam a year later, Vampire Survivors grew in popularity by leaps and bounds, even garnering praise from Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer. Following such remarkable reception and multiple DLCs, the British developer is now interested in diversifying its ventures.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, Poncle revealed it is branching out into game publishing during Game Republic's Pitching to Investors and Publishers event. The new publishing team will reportedly differ from a "traditional publisher," underlining it doesn't "want IP" but instead wants to fund passion projects and enable devs to "make the games they want to make." The studio of one of the best pixel art games in recent years will offer a variety of services as it aims to help roll out titles that are "replayable, affordable, and fun." Moreover, the Vampire Survivors creator highlighted its desire to "sign everything" as a game publisher despite being a small firm.

Vampire Survivors Developer Opens Publishing Arm

Poncle plans to offer many different services for its developers, including funding, development advice, QA, platform support, localization, release management, and marketing. Hinting at its stance on certain industry trends, the indie studio clarified that AI games, Web3-related titles, and free-to-play mobile games are "insta-nos" for its publishing business. Along similar lines, Poncle is reportedly focused on helping projects that are developed with "sincerity, passion, and depth."

In August 2024, Poncle finally ported Vampire Survivors to PS4 and PS5, nearly two years after its initial release for PC users on October 20, 2022. All expansions are also available for purchase on PlayStation consoles, meaning that the full pixel art action game is finally up for grabs on all major platforms.

Besides bringing the game to a new audience, the UK-based developer also recently refreshed content for existing Vampire Survivors players. The Darkasso Update brought new content to the popular title, including a new stage, more character skins, and several new achievements to unlock. With more content drops on the way in 2025, new and old Vampire Survivors players have plenty to look forward to over the next year.
