Possessor(s) will hit the market on November 11, Heart Machine has announced. The release date, which applies to several platforms, replaces the vague 2025 launch window that was previously attached to Possessor(s).

Heart Machine is a Los Angeles-based developer best known as the creator of Solar Ash and Hyper Light Drifter. In January 2025, the company launched its latest title in the form of the meticulously crafted action roguelike Hyper Light Breaker, which is currently in early access. Five months later, Heart Machine unveiled Possessor(s), a side-scrolling action platformer with stylish visuals and a level design rooted in metroidvania conventions, even though it isn't described as a traditional metroidvania.

The creators of Hyper Light Drifter are working on a new action game that's releasing later this year, and it's technically not a Metroidvania.

Heart Machine Launches November 11 for PS5 and PC

Possessor(s) has now locked down a release date, with Heart Machine committing to launching it on November 11. It will be published by indie specialists at Devolver Digital, marking the Texas-based company's first collaboration with Heart Machine. Possessor(s) will have a same-day release on the PlayStation 5 and PC. Heart Machine has yet to confirm any other platform for its upcoming title. The only two games that the company previously released on PlayStation—Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash—were both available on Nintendo and Xbox consoles. Solar Ash was a timed PlayStation console exclusive, indicating Possessor(s) may be in the same boat.

The game's release date was announced with a new three-minute trailer, which offers the lengthiest look at Possessor(s) to date. The promo video spotlights the game's improvised arsenal, including an electric guitar that can send charged shockwaves, a hockey stick that sweeps enemies, and special abilities for performing counters and closing distance. Though Possessor(s) marks Heart Machine's first side-scrolling title, its fast-paced combat could still appeal to anyone who enjoyed the energetic gameplay loop of Hyper Light Breaker.

Apart from the perspective shift, Possessor(s) stands out from Heart Machine's prior releases with its horror influences, as well as an emphasis on verticality, boasting acrobatic movement and things like aerial juggles. Of the two Hyper Light games, it seemingly has more in common with Hyper Light Drifter, as both promise to reward precision and quick reflexes. Compared to Hyper Light Breaker, it appears to focus on different goals, trading a systems-heavy roguelite RPG for a tightly authored single-player experience.

As things currently stand, Possessor(s) will be a digital-only release. It can already be wishlisted on Steam and the PlayStation Store. Heart Machine has yet to share any pricing information, but if its previous releases are any indication, the launch price tag attached to Possessor(s) will likely be in the ballpark of $30.
