A newly announced paid DLC for PowerWash Simulator will add several locations from the Shrek movies, including the titular ogre's iconic swamp home, to the game. FuturLab's Unity-powered indie title is no stranger to these sorts of partnerships, having previously collaborated with properties like Back to the Future, Warhammer 40,000, and, most recently, Alice in Wonderland.

Released in July 2022, PowerWash Simulator is a first-person simulation game that, as its name implies, allows people to fulfill their dreams of running a small power washing business. The title published by Square Enix's indie games division has received a steady stream of themed expansions since its launch, such as PowerWash Simulator's Final Fantasy 7 DLC that came out in March last year. Developer FuturLabs has just revealed the next crossover pack for its unique simulator that will take gamers to a beloved fairy-tale land.

What's Your Dream Powerwash Simulator Location?

If I was to pick a real-life location, give me something with a killer view like the Sydney Harbour Bridge, or a structure with lots of detail like the Cathedral in Cologne, Germany. If we don't wash away the exhibits, it would be cool to clean the inside of the Museum Of Natural History or a famous art gallery. If it's fictional, it would be cool to go through Hogwarts, but that would take me until I'm retired to complete.

The Shrek Special Pack for PowerWash Simulator was unveiled to the public during Nintendo's August 27 Direct presentation, which, among other things, also showed off a new SpongeBob SquarePants game centered around supporting character Patrick Star. This DLC will bring five maps inspired by DreamWorks Animation's popular movie series, including Shrek's Swamp, to PowerWash Simulator. It will come with additional achievements as well, according to the game's official Twitter account.

PowerWash Simulator Gets New Shrek DLC

Based on a children's picture book created by American cartoonist William Steig, Shrek is one of DreamWorks Animation's most popular movie franchises. The second installment in the series, 2004's Shrek 2, is among the highest-grossing films of all time, earning more than $928 million at the worldwide box office.

While a specific release date for PowerWash Simulator's Shrek Special Pack was not mentioned during the latest Nintendo Direct, it should come soon "in the not too far, far away future," according to the expansion's trailer. A price was also not provided, but PowerWash Simulator's Alice in Wonderland, Back to the Future, and Warhammer 40,000 collaborations were each priced $7.99 when they dropped. FuturLabs has also given players free expansion packs in the past, one of them being the Tomb Raider DLC for PowerWash Simulator.

Two free expansions, Muckingham Files - Part 4 and Cruise Ship Sun Deck - Summer 2024, were released for PowerWash Simulator in August. The former added two jobs, while the latter, part of FuturLab's Seasonal Specials series of free updates, featured two new maps, as well as a summer-themed suit, gloves, and power washer skin. PowerWash Simulator currently has an Overwhelmingly Positive overall rating on Steam based on more than 40,700 player reviews.
