Abilities You Need to Solve the Gear Puzzle

To overcome the puzzles within the clock tower area of the Upper City Night, two essential Surge Athras come into play: the Dimensional Claw and the Shadow of Simurgh. The Dimensional Claw empowers you to grasp items and shoot them as projectiles, while the Shadow of Simurgh allows you to create clones and teleport to them.

How to Solve the Gear Puzzle

To solve the Upper City Night puzzle, you need to shoot three radiant purple pieces into the giant gear. Use the Dimensional Claw to grab the pieces and employ your teleportation ability, Shadow of Simurgh, to transfer them into the gear box.

Explore the specific steps for each puzzle room below.

First Room Puzzle

In the initial room, you’ll encounter two pressure plates and a moving platform above. Solve this puzzle by generating a clone on the left plate and standing on the right one. The right pressure plate will shift a platform, carrying the puzzle piece to the right. As the platform reaches the far-right side, quickly teleport to your clone and stand on the left plate. This action will release the puzzle piece.

Now that you have the missing piece, shoot it into the vacant slot at the bottom to unveil a new pathway. Utilize this platform to jump to the highest point possible and create a clone beneath the locked gate above. Subsequently, descend, seize the puzzle piece, teleport to your Shadow, and shoot the piece into the designated spot in the gate.

Second Room Puzzle

Leap onto the platform beneath the radiant puzzle piece. Seize the piece and promptly double-jump toward the adjacent platforms. Utilize these walls as a launchpad to jump high and generate a clone. Descend and propel the puzzle piece back into the initial empty slot. Once the new platforms unlock, teleport to your Shadow, placing yourself on the highest platform. Subsequently, jump as high as possible and create a Shadow beneath the secured gate. Finally, descend, collect the puzzle piece, teleport back to your clone, and shoot the piece into the gate.

Third Room Puzzle

Insert the puzzle piece into the initial vacant slot. Do a wall-jump using the side platforms to ascend above the second empty slot, and create a clone there. Jump down, retrieve the puzzle piece, and shoot it into the second slot from ground level. Teleport to your shadow, grab the piece from the second slot, and promptly shoot it into the gate before landing.

How to Make the Giant Gear Work

After resolving all three puzzles in the clock tower area, return to the main room with the large clockwork-like gear. Climb to the top, where three color-coded pressure plates are situated. Position yourself on the golden plate — the rightmost one — once its pointer aligns with the shape on the gear. Remain in place until the other two rotating gears synchronize with their respective pointers, unlocking a new pathway.
