The Mask of Darkness DLC for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown continues Sargon's story with a brand-new metroidvania adventure, expanding the game's narrative and introducing a new antagonist. Set in a mysterious, dark realm, the DLC presents new enemies, platforming puzzles, and time powers.

To access the Mask of Darkness DLC, you'll need to complete several prerequisites in the main game to unlock the DLC-specific quest. Detailed below is an easy-to-follow checklist outlining the steps you need to take in order to gain access to this exciting new DLC adventure.

Mask Of Darkness Prerequisites

Acquire The First Two Simurgh Feathers

You can start the Mask of Darkness DLC after collecting the first two Simurgh feathers: the Rush of the Simurgh and the Shadow of the Simurgh.

  • The Rush of the Simurgh is obtained after defeating the first boss, Jahandar, in the main story. Jahandar is located in the western section of the Lower City. The Rush of the Simurgh mimics the classic wall running mechanic, but in the Lost Crown, it allows you to close large gaps.
  • To get the Shadow of the Simurgh, continue with the main story until you reach the Upper City and meet Vahram. After your encounter with Vahram, you’ll find yourself in a new area called The Depths. Here, you’ll lose access to your map and must chase down an old man to retrieve it. Eventually, Sargon will face an alternate version of himself in a boss battle. Defeating the Alternate Sargon will reward you with the Shadow of the Simurgh feather, which allows him to create a time-locked shadow and teleport to it with a press of the button.

How To Start The Mask Of Darkness DLC

Meet The Prerequisites & Speak To Neith At The Haven

Having acquired both the Rush of the Simurgh and the Shadow of the Simurgh, you can head to the Haven in the Lower City and speak to Neith. After a brief conversation with Neith, you'll be tasked with the 'A Snake in the Grass' side quest.

Accepting the quest marks Neith's location on your map, which can be reached by heading a short distance west from the Haven. Interacting with Neith at this location will take you to a new realm, where the Mask of Darkness DLC actually begins.

Starting the Mark of Darkness DLC strips Sargon of his amulets, health upgrades, and all time powers — except for the Rush of the Simurgh and the Shadow of the Simurgh. You'll begin with just three health bars and will need to discover new health upgrades and time powers unique to the DLC.

Starting the Mask of Darkness DLC doesn't necessarily lock you out of the main game; you will occasionally find distinct purple portals near Soma trees that teleport you back to Mount Qaf.
