7 EA Games Are Shutting Down Today
FYI you will still be able to play NCAA 14, just can't use any of the online features after it "shuts down." Not sure which of the other games are online only other than the Rory McIlroy game, but those will be completely unplayable.
In Its Ongoing War With Call of Duty, Battlefield Has an Ace Up Its Sleeve
Few people play Battlefield games for campaign/story missions. Battlefield 3 was the best entry in the series because of its map selection in multiplayer. While other entries in the series surpassed it in other ways (Bf4 more refined gameplay, better netcode; BF1 best graphics and cinematics of any shooter IMO) none of them quite measured up in overall map quality as well as quantity of good maps.
The best thing about BF3 is that it didn't focus on just one type of battle. Yes there were some giant maps with vehicle cluster-youknowwhats, but there were also smaller infantry focused maps, as well as several maps that struck a medium balance between the two.
You had Armored Kill for vehicle players and Close Quarters for infantry players. And BTW BF3 Close Quarters DLC did that kind of combat better than COD has ever done it.
My favorite maps were infantry focused but contained a couple various vehicles. Grand Bazaar, Seine Crossing, Damavand Peak, Tehran Highway, Epicenter, Shari Peninsula. All on Rush of course.
That's another thing new Battlefield has to do. Bring Rush back and make it good again on equal footing with Conquest. Aside from that focus on map design. A giant field with some random buildings doesn't make a good map. Good maps have lanes, flank routes, concentrated action where you don't need 200 player lobbies to feel like there is a lot of action. Also way less verticality than recent games as well. The maps with 20 different skyscrapers where people just go up there and camp elevators/ladders or snipe have got to go.
