There's no need to protect the game excessively. If it's available on Steam or other platforms, those platforms users will purchase it. If the game is exceptional, people will be eager to buy it. 

Implementing stringent protection only serves as an invitation for crackers to attempt to break it. Crackers, much like hackers, relish a challenge. In this scenario, implementing protection in a way that frustrates your potential player base can result in negative public relations. Such efforts to prevent unauthorized copying might actually deter people from purchasing the game.

However, my advice is for individuals is to purchase the games they enjoy playing, recognizing the significant effort and financial investment required to develop these games. If you wish to continue enjoying high-quality games, show your support by buying them.
