I don't see the logic here, because even the current Switch has a feature that could serve basically the same purpose, but that isn't taken advantage of (AFAIK) in any Pokemon game: the touch screen. If touch screen controls were enabled while using the in-game PC/box screens, that would be just as much of an upgrade as a mouse-like feature.
