Your argument makes sense, but in my opinion if you are trying to make a game fun the game shouldn't force you to use a specific gun to make it fair. Granted a game where all the guns are the same would be boring aswell, but I feel that one gun shouldn't be able to outclass every gun no matter what subclass of gun. It gets rid of the variety in gameplay.
