See AllRumor: The Steam Machine Will Be Priced 'Like a PC,' Not a Console
Everyone has their opinion, but I'd argue the PS Vita redefined the handheld space. Valve just saw a good idea and a better design Nintendo couldn't do first and did what Sony did, just got rid of proprietary storage mediums, thus cutting the costs and making it more appealing. Had Sony not used proprietary storage, or priced it so high, for that matter and worked more to convince their first-party powerhouse studios to develop for it rather than outsourcing their IP to others, the Vita could've been bigger and lived much longer, but true to form, if something doesn't work, Sony abandons it and moves on to something else to meet the same fate. Nintendo, however, sticks their plan, on terms of shelf life, and adapts to make what they have work for them in a different way and it ends up working out really well. PlayStation forced Nintendo to drop the price of the 3DS to a more fair price or consumers would've continued to spend $249 on the 3DS. The PS Vita being more powerful and appearing to have more promise was priced at a reasonable $249, that pushes Nintendo to drop the price of the technically inferior 3DS so, Nintendo fans can thank Sony for that one
Costco Comments on Xbox Consoles Removal
Yup. 👍🏻👏🏻. Xbox's mixed messaging continues and it's time to get them to planet their feet. A massive company that owns smaller independent studios. Look at The Initiative. They bought and ruined Activision to try and prevent Sony from getting exclusive rights Xbox couldn't secure, I could go on and on. Even Xbox's former employees and management regularly state Xbox doesn't know what they're doing and "should stay in their lane". Xbox hasn't really done anything to contribute to the gaming world during their time anyway. SEGA (not Sammy) did, Nintendo, has, Atari did, and PlayStation does. Xbox actually made PlayStation worse, but with Xbox gone we'll see PlayStation bounce back and focus on Nintendo once again and the two will feed off each other to make each other better rather than adopting absurd business practices to stay relevant.
This is a positive step in the right direction
Halo on PlayStation May Suddenly Be Skating on Thin Ice
Microsoft made two fatal mistakes with this. When Bluepoint remastered Uncharted for PS4, they did all three games. Xbox, as figured, got greedy and wanted to release the series one-by-one, which is nonsense, but shows what Xbox really knows. It should've been the Trilogy.
Second, when I first looked at the trophy list, I went: Oh, okay. The one fighting General RAAM on Insane difficulty is gonna be tough, it's doable...... And then the game launched and made the mistake I ABSOLUTELY HATE AND NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT UP AT DEVELOPER MEETINGS!
WHY DO DEVELOPERS HAVE TO MAKE MULTIPLAYER TROPHIES PART OF THE PLATINUM!?!? Ghost of Tsushima is a perfect example of how trophies should be done. All of your single-player trophies compile your list for the Platinum trophy. Then you have your extra trophies that are added on over time which are multiplayer. GET 10,000 KILLS, ARE YOU MENTAL??? What a horrific grind NOBODY wants to do! Then all the level ups, again, a grind, that's not fun! Xbox has to remember, as well, PlayStation gamers were bred with Xbox Live mentality. As much as Xbox wanted to push their online service, that cost $60/yr once upon a time, PlayStation was FREE back then and the service was competitive for free too, but that's also because PlayStation gamers like their single-player campaigns. A bunch of a-social introverts. Xbox Live like Game Pass is a money making scheme, even PC online gameplay is free. PlayStation started charging because they had to, but they gave away free games with the sub and have since which Xbox then followed along with to try and justify their service that was then getting beat repeatedly.
Two mistakes Xbox didn't think through because they're, surprise surprise, they're OUT OF TOUCH! ALWAYS HAVE BEEN!
Ahead of Helldivers 2’s Xbox Launch, Arrowhead Just Played the Ace Up Its Sleeve
So, what you're saying is the world's gaming fanbase is on Xbox? You're implying that PlayStation and Steam are too limited for the games success and that Helldivers II win FINALLY find success on a console that's been outsold 4:1 on its previous generation, 3-4:1 this current generation and has come dead last in every console generation it's existed in, this is the key to the success of Helldivers II and the PlayStation brand?
Those are the opera notes you're claiming are being hit but, PlayStation would've been better off, then, porting the game to the PS4. The problem is, the power leap from PS4 to PS5 wasn't all that much so adoption of the PS5, not to mention the whole COVID issue, doesn't help, but you're implying that the success of PlayStation is moving to a console whose given up. They don't even believe in their own hardware enough that their software goes to the PlayStation and sells off the charts. Where other devs look at Xbox, now, and say: "Why bother?" So it only goes to PlayStation knowing that Xbox is on life support. That Xbox will release one final console but it'll only last a year, maybe before Xbox realizes it's time to throw in the towel. This is the business model for success?
This is a move that makes no sense and deep down inside, you know it's all a ploy to save something on life support. I've been there, once upon a time. Luckily, I had interest in the competition at the time as well so when SEGA did the same thing, I wasn't stuck, the transition was easy. Decades later, with SEGA employees no longer fearing unfair consequences for speaking the truth, documentaries hit and you learned just how much in trouble SEGA was.
The same will happen to Xbox and fans that just couldn't let go and accept it's fate, the blinders will be removed and they'll understand Xbox was in a bad position. Those who made the console what it was were long gone and suits took over.
PlayStation holds no monopoly in Xbox's absence. Nintendo and Steam still fight
150-Player Multiplayer Shooter Game With 'Very Positive' Reviews is Coming to PS5 and Xbox This Week
Remember when M.A.G. Ran on the PS3 that had 256 players? Man, what a cool game, ahead of its time. Zipper Interactive? What a shame....
