Were you playing against the Illuminate? They have like one mission type right now, and that's for lore reasons technically. That sector was suddenly invaded by the full Illuminate war machine, so we're trying to get as many people out of harm's way as possible. When big events happen in Helldivers, often there's either a new mission type, a mission type that is a "priority" or orders that encourage a certain playstyle.
