Honestly for me it is all about access. I buy the English translations as soon as they come out whether they be anime, light novel or manga. If it isn't the most popular thing out there it will usually be 3-4 volumes behind with at least a one year wait in between or if series is complete they stop translating the rest of the volumes. Follow the money.
