My guess is Gohan's Beast form has additional layers to it's powers similar to Ultra Instinct. Gohan himself says that he can't fully tap into the full power without snapping.
Maybe we see something similar to Naruto, that when Gohan masters his full power. We see a full body transformation that mirrors the duality of that power...
