How do you extrapolate "walking phallic symbol" into "any masculine character"? That's a mighty fine strawman you've built there.

Art doesn't work that way. People can interpret art however they want, and often multiple interpretations of a work can exist. An artist doesn't get to forever dictate how we think of their art. They have their interpretation, we can have our own.

Seems like Ito has too much of an ego to understand that he doesn't get to dictate how people analyze and interpret art. He's free to say whatever he wants, but calling fans ignorant because they have different interpretations and draw different conclusions than his is ridiculous. That's not how art works.

I agree entirely, however it seems like many younger gamers don't want to touch these classic old games because "janky controls and outdated graphics." Which seems like refusing to watch a classic movie like Psycho because it's in black and white.

I can't say enough good things about Amnesia: The Bunker. Absolutely one of the finest horror games I've ever played, and I've played many. Highly recommended. It felt to me like the perfect blend of the Amnesia stalker enemy style with the old-school Resident Evil gameplay loop. I've played through it probably 50 times already.

SOMA, on the other hand, was easily one of the most boring games I've ever played. Which is too bad, as it had a lot going for it. Outstanding story, fantastic environments, great mood...but what killed it for me was the lack of anything even remotely resembling gameplay. At least at first it had some run and hide from the monster action, but once I realized that there was basically no real penalty for dying, as death in most cases meant respawning 10 feet away from where you perished, only now with no monster around. This made monster encounters less of a horror and more of a minor inconvenience, and the best tactic seemed to be to just let the monster kill me so I'd respawn in practically the same place but with no monster there. From that point on it just became tedious and dull, and I quit about half way through and watched a recap video to see what I'd missed.

Perhaps instead of re-releasing the same games every few years they could, oh I don't know, maybe create some new games? Naw, why do that, when they can just slap a coat of paint on and re-sell the same games to "me want gud grafix" bozos like james over and over.

I don't understand the point. The Nightdive version that released a few years ago was fantastic. What's the point of another? Is this the Doom 64 Remaster Remaster? I can't wait until we start getting annual remasters. Well this game is a year old already, better remaster it!
