I’m really hoping for a redemption arc also since I too have great sympathy for him. Plus he’s my favourite character. However I remember Hunter Doohan saying that he’s going in this season playing “the full villain” so that pretty much ruined my hopes. Plus the latest Netflix article about the series features a quote from Hunter in which he says that he’s “Scheming and plotting. Trying to figure out if there’s a chance for him to escape.” It’s clear that the writers want him to go Hannibal Lecter-esque, at least for this season.
But if he survives this season and comes back for the third, then maybe the redemption arc will still be on the table, which, like you, I am hoping for.
As for Willow Hill, considering that Francoise Galpin was locked up there also and she died, perhaps that tells us that this place isn’t really going to be of proper help to him.
