Cheron was a formerly inhabited Class M planet in the Beta Quadrant. This was the homeworld of the Cheron natives, an extinct warp-capable humanoid species that destroyed itself in internecine warfare. The planet was located in the southern region of the Milky Way Galaxy, near the Coalsack Nebula.

NO TIME LIKE THE PAST
I'll leave you with you guys with the rest of it so you can read it for yourselves
The TOS episode, "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" established that the natives of the planet Cheron had become extinct as a result of a planetary-scale war between its two racial factions, with Bele and Lokai being the last remaining members of that species, in the process of killing each other. Without contradicting what was shown in that episode, Virgil's existence here implies that at least some other members of that species managed to leave Cheron before the war reached its end, meaning they*re only functionally extinct.
I do not claim anything. I'm just pointing things out
