YouTube is Rolling Out A New Controversial Feature
My biggest concern is data security… No private company should have access to, and be able to store government IDs. There doesn’t seem to be any info into how this data is being used which is not good. Like the TSA deletes your photo immediately upon verification, but it’s unclear if the companies are storing it or not? Either way, your identity is then forever tied to the website. If the UK law gets introduced in the US this will spell the end of true internet anonymity. Even if you have nothing to hide, you do not want the government to be able to track your internet usage. It’s a slippery slope to loss of control and personal freedom. We already see it with government labeling non-sexual LGBT content or even general sex education as 18+, which prevents young people from accessing critical information or community! Anything that isn’t agreeable to the government or private company could be labeled as obscene… It’s a slippery slope and restricts information for the sake of protecting children. Parents need to watch their kids… Not companies
