See AllDon't Hold Your Breath for New Consoles: the RAM Crisis Could Delay the PS6 and Next-Gen Xbox
I am not of the same mindset as others gamers. The ps5 is maxxed out. Unless your going to spend the money on a PRO like I did then goodluck. PC gaming has games console doesn't and alot, a deep modding community, better graphics, and better performance. Console companies would be fools to not keep up. You have handheld gaming rigs that do more than the PS5 or the same thing at the very least. Sure, we have the PSSR2 update that is supposed to come out in 2026. What will that actually do in terms of graphics/performance, only time will tell. I could see a 2028 release window. The next couple of years will see games better optimized taking full advantage of what the PRO is capable of yet the PRO is still a roadblock. A true gamer not an online player, a single player experience driven gamer wants the best of the best at an affordable price. Yes, games can always be remade or reworked for a future generation, but the PS4 has held the ps5 back and to many years have past, it's time to take a real hard leap forward. I am not on board with waiting and I think it would be foolish from a business perspective to allow any more wiggle room. Sony is already at a crossroads. Sales are up the playstation 5 is doing great or has been, but where does it go from here. How can one say that the current generation hasn't reached it's potential when game after game is the same thing. 4k 30fps or downscaled at 60fps. Mid to lower range PCs can hit those numbers, handhelds can hit those numbers, it's time from Sony to take the next step offering a console that can compete with higher end mid-range PCs and to do that the PS6 is a must. One might say well Chris then why not just buy a PC, my rebuttal I like to own my games, a hard copy of my game, something PlayStation still offers. I want 120hz 4k with options for ray tracing, path tracing, and global illumination.
