Blackbeard said long ago he read up on all the fruits so knew about the Blackhole fruit that he went after.

Nobody except joyboy and the 5 elders have any idea on how imu powers work.

So it's a good possibility that jacking imu powers would not be that helpful right away

Joyboys haki was probably so powerful that it could counter imu's magic and other abilities.

Joyboy might have been a giant, considering the giant hat in the cell from long ago.

Something else to consider, imu might have benefited from the immortality of the op op fruit centuries ago and could have a unique fruit of his own, one that would surpass all others.

Picture the absorb fruit, similar to the black hole that black beard has, except that once he absorbs a power he retains the power and can share it with others.

He can absorb life like big mom with it if need be.

But the one thing that can not be absorbed is haki, that's based on the individual user and there soul and will.

Thats why imu is afraid of joyboy, his soul was indomitable.

Earth god created the fruits to entrap and enslave, sun god brings light and liberation and the sea god was angry for being dragged into it and made the sea (sea stone negates powers, drowning ) a barrier to the fruits.

Hence him swinging the hammer and saying the sea stone cuffs have no effect on him and the lightning/fire damage he caused.

That would also open up the massive possibility of loki having eaten a fruit of his own.
