See AllHollow Knight: Silksong Should Tear Down The Original Game's Barrier to One Feature
What else is there to say except "get good" as Hornet would say? The map system in Hollow Knight was not obnoxious. It encouraged exploration and familiarizing yourself with the layout of the game through its systems. If you managed to find your way on your own, you could forgo the Wayward Compass and get a defacto extra charm notch from it. That's good game design, no, great game design. Ask yourself this; with how anticipated Silksong is, do you think it would be a good idea for the development team to implement features that hold your hand and take some of the difficulty away that we expect from it? That would be a major disappointment. I don't expect college essays, but I think you should regroup and reassess your thoughts on Hollow Knight and its systems with regard to exploring the world and navigation.
