Honestly the expansions are not featured in anything that has real game needs. Everything has been a oh here is a bit extra so it's not a precedent id be too worried about. The expansions never feature in the star path,which honestly annoys me as I own them. Other than you can also do tasks or basic things like fish. So you aren't really missing out except you don't get the bonus content. There was a reunite eva and wall-e quest and no one said a word about it being worrying as it was expansions to base game. Same concept.
