See All'We Didn't Feel Like We Were Obliged To': 'The Last of Us' Showrunner On Why They Changed Abby's Physical Traits
I have issues with this. When you are making a series or movie based on source material (video game or book) that someone else wrote, you do have an obligation to follow their course material. I don't mean every small detail, some things just can't translate to a movie or series. I don't really care about race swapping most of the time becuase often a characters race is not important to the character (if it is a major part of the character that would be different) same with Gender swapping. When something is emphasized about a character, that means it was important to the author and should be included. The physical presence of Abby is emphasized in the game and therefore is important. People who make movies and T.V. Shows need to realize, this is someone elses intellectual property and you are making money from it, you should reapect it.
