See AllIt's Official: PlayStation Plus is Going to Change Forever in January 2026
Brett lol this was the most frustrating comment to read. At some point, they’re going to stop making PS4 games. It’s the way technology goes. PS4 has had a damn long lifespan. You’re not getting screwed, you’re just frustrated with technology. Every single console out there either has or will hit the end of its life and will stop being supported. Sorry.
I also find it interesting that you want a console you can upgrade yourself. 1. That’s not how consoles work. That would instantly ruin any developers ability to optimize their games because they now have to be built for particular specifications. As it is right now, developers know the specifications for PS5 and what it can do. Imagine how much more difficult it would be to program for if they have to account for all different graphics cards. PCs can do it because their games give you a wide variety of graphics options. But the downside is that the games would run and look better for some people, and not for others. Plus the PS5 doesn’t just look better, it has a new user interface and new controller with new features and other goodies. Second, you also make a comment about “I wouldn’t pay for a PS5 even if it were $100” and then talk about self upgrading. Any idea how much a good graphics card costs nowadays? WAY more than $100. Potentially even more than the cost of a system itself.
Lastly, I agree with the above commenter. If you can’t put together $400-$500 over the 5 years since the PS5 has been out (especially considering you can knock at least a bit off that price by trading in your PS4 or selling it) then you don’t need to be playing videogames. Video games are a luxury and it’s not Sony’s fault if you can’t afford them.
