Thanks for the heads up. I just bought the game on sale and was thinking about giving it a go... But I don't think I want my behavior motivated by that sunken cost fallacy. I'll stick to Dwarf Fortress.

I get it, in a sea of mediocrity, all it takes is a tiny bit of effort to appear exceptional. But they are the ones making the extra effort. People aren't going to boycott GTA6 even though rockstar treated their employees worse than how Krafton is treating theirs. Krafton isn't laying off their staff, their offering them an amicable split if they disagree with their new direction. They don't need any more mutinous employees trying to divert them off course.

I haven't played pubg in years, nor have I tried any of their products, but I might give them a try now.

Honestly, they might as well rewrite the main storyline into a generic open world fantasy game? Why not have it come back round full circle in the end of his mod by having the player assassinate the king as the final quest?

I think that's how abusive relationships work. One partner manipulates and abuses the other for personal gain, then apologizes and promises to patch things up, and then does it all over again.
