See AllI Wasn't a Fan at First, but PvP Is Vital to Arc Raiders
Absolutely agree. First off, kudos to Embark Studios for making such a creative and innovative game. Playing the other night and after getting killed for a third time in a row while looting for materials or looking for a bombardier to complete a workshop upgrade, realized that its a matter of incompatible focus and initiative imbalance between players. PvP vs PvE focus does not overlap effectively in my opinion. If a player focus is on PvE and looting specific items then they may check surroundings for a bit but eventually they will loot. The minute they do, they are fully open to being shot in the back by someone waiting quietly around a corner. The PvP player has the initiative and the outcome is fairly certain; the PvE player will die and fail to extract. Alternatively if a player focus is on PvP they will be roaming the map looking for other PvP players to shoot it out with. In this scenario the initiative is fairly balanced and may the better player win. But when they come across a PvE player, the initiative is in the PvP player's court which typically is an insurmountable advantage. The saving grace for now is that the devs seem to have an algorithm to match player behavior, albeit imperfectly. At some point in the future, why not go the full distance and create a PvE mode.
