I'm a bit concerned by the words, unique approach, to the casting, if it's too unfamiliar and different they risk losing the originals charm and magic, lessons should be learnt from films like the Snow White remake which failed spectacularly.

As viruses mutate over time it would be interesting if in a time skip 100 years in to the future no one who died turned it to a zombie, the virus has changed enough to not cause that, all the humans that are born after that were essentially clear, it would just be a matter of clearing up the old walkers that hadn't disintegrated by then, a bite wouldn't infect you as badly you would have immunity like a vaccination, it would be useful to do a series on that aspect as it would inform a lot of people on how vaccinations actually work, there is a lot of misinformation and downright ignorance out there.

With the unavailability of period products and contraception in the post zombie world I think the woman would be pregnant a lot more than they are, but somehow they manage to spend months living rough in the woods wearing tight jeans with no period stains, I can only imagine that the zombie virus that has infected everyone really affects fertility and maybe eradicates periods or makes them very light for half a day or something, I suppose there are upsides to ever apocalypse!
