I'm pretty sure the suggestion is just to quit the game, and then restart it. That does bring the sound back, but in my experience it doesn't fix the issue for very long and you lose sound again.

I've tried everything. On console. Xbox. But none of them work (published on a variety of sites, including changes to dynamic sound and the autosave frequency), except to relaunch the game. Problem is it can happen every 10-15 minutes, so you're having to save, shut down and reload the game every 10 to 15 minutes. Not a very fun solution.
