Niggy LOL yeah that explains the exploding player count. This is the strangest humiliation kink I've yet come across.
Helldivers 2’s Super Earth Invasion Still Leaves One Super-Sized Question Unanswered
I'm a graduate student on a tight schedule who often plays solo at max difficulty because I don't want to bail on teams if something comes up or a client needs help. Double doors are already frustrating as a solo, and anything gatekeeping content or rewards to full teams would just be a slap in the face to anybody who has less than four people. It would also make griefing easy and players could easily fuck over a team by just dropping out before rewards could be obtained. Don't gatekeep content. I can clear bases alone better than many full teams can.
Helldivers 2’s New Major Order Undermines the Commemorative FOMO Cape
This is a really bad take for reasons I'll detail below:
1. Nobody wants content to be missing from the game. Most players appreciate variety being available to them.
2. The battle for super earth was important for story reasons, and nothing else will be the same because it doesn't have the same emotional weight and the RP engagement from the player base.
3. Super Earth gave us dense urban combat and the studio has wisely folded this gameplay into wider gameplay to add yet further variety into the gameplay loop.
4. The illuminate were absolutely devastated. Their fleet was torn apart and billions of them died. They retreated and attacked and took over a tiny handful of lightly defended planets. They hold a fraction of the territory of the other two factions and additionally have their own theme and style for urban maps which is awesome.
5. Tons of players were clamoring for revenge against the illuminate and wanting to take the fight to them to answer for the invasion of super earth. If they waited a long time to give that opportunity the motivation for revenge would be gone or much less significant.
Helldivers 2 May Have Shot Itself in the Foot By Shadow-Dropping the Illuminate
What a weird and in my opinion, poorly oriented take. The game doesn't need to shatter player count records to be healthy or successful. The game doesn't use a subscription model. This is reminiscent of the same "growth at all costs" mentality you see in publicly traded companies, it's gross.
