See AllFinal Fantasy 14 Is Being Review Bombed
People need to slow down and read. According to the post by Mare themselves, it was a legal inquiry. Square was probably asking for the information their team used to make their coding. By Mare's team choosing to close own the project, it makes me question what they were using. This all started to be a big deal because of what PlayerScope had done in violating player privacy with their mod.
Square is trying to protect not only their assets, but also players. Why are we all getting so upset by a company trying to do the right thing? They've turned a blind eye to cosmetic mods for a long time, yes, but they've also always stated that they're against TOS. Everyone's fighting over something they knew could be removed at any time or even cause their accounts to be banned or suspended.
Bottom line: If you don't like a company's TOS, don't play their game or use their services. When they enforce them, you have no room to argue since you agreed to the TOS when signing up.
