I've been loving the game. Not everyone throws a fit if pronouns dare to ever be mentioned.
Game has some issues, but story is solid, companions are likeable, and the combat is actually difficult for a change on higher difficulties.
It's leagues better than Inquisition at the very least.
In either case, no clue why people like you seem to feel the need to be so toxic. I doubt you even played the game yet a random article about lore triggers you.

The Fate of One Dragon Age: The Veilguard Companion Shouldn't Have Been A Choice
I feel like it was pretty clear in-game why Davrin survived. Wardens die because the power of the Archdemon backlashes into them, killing them.
The gods use Archdemons like a phlicatry. When the god attached to a given Archdemon was locked away, this meant nothing. When in the physical realm, however, it means the power returns to them, not the warden.
The dragon Davrin slew was also not an archdemon, only a blighted high dragon they thought was otherwise.
