I don't know what the confusion is about this remaster.

Long story short:

Its all about the money and bringing awareness to an otherwise forgotten game

Despite the fact Sony has said, on multiple occasions it will NOT get a sequel its getting a remaster. And considering this is all over the internet as well with people drawing conclusions or maybe just to hope against hope that ot WILL get a sequel another more likely explanation is

There's a simple and very plausible reason for this remaster,

Its generating hype for an old game, those that played it before such as are likely to pay the $10 upgrade, those whonhave never heard of it are likely to try it on PS+ and possibly buy the remaster and regardless of the generated hype being negative or positive it is still getting people interested in, and talking about it which is a ton of free advertising all over social media and the internet in general so that when

DAYS GONE THE MOVIE

Comes out later THIS YEAR it most likely WILL still be fresh in peoples minds

THAT'S WHY they made it.
