That, is my worry, as well. Are digital consoles playable, should you suddenly not have a connection? Is your game, more on a server, while all your system only truly holds is a key to a locked door, that won't work if the door becomes unavailable?

I just received a digital console as a gift. I'm excited to jump in to try new, smoother games, but I'm not ready to let go of the last generation by far. I see developers, getting people used to something like disc's, over decades of saturation, and now they want to pull the rug out from under us, taking them away. For what true purpose, I wonder? Why this push to end disc use? Obvious reasons are, extra manufacturing, shipping, stock, etc, but that can't be all. I worry about being under more surveillance by being all digital, but an on line connection allows that, anyway.

For me, once I have a game, I hold onto it, and only trade if it's worse than I thought, or beat the game. The way games become "passe", over time, sometimes they get donated because you would only get $1 for trade in. And, who knows, a beaten game may become appealing again, over time.
