DShip Yeah, that's kind of my one complaint Harvest Moon: A/Another Wonderful Life and the remake (Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life), as well.
If you don't get married, the game ends after the first year. I mean, given the storyline, I do understand why that is—you need a child to inherit the farm after your character passes from old age. (I do actually like the aging bit, tbh.)
However, they could have just made it so that the rivals for other marriage candidates marry the villagers you *don't* get married to (and honestly, it's strange that they don't) and have kids themselves, and then your character could have passed the farm onto the child of a friend.
Games in general—whether mobile, PC, or console—shouldn't force you to get married and have kids. It should always be a choice!

DeniseNece agreed! They could easily maintain their E rating by doing it like Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons do. No woohooing or anything like that, just "oh, hey, you're having a kid!" Lol
