See AllIs There An "Anime Bubble" on the Verge of Bursting?
The anime industry has existed without significant outside influence for over 60 years. It can survive without the current international popularity, although declining birth rates are leading to smaller domestic audiences.
But the industry has gone through cycles before. Companies go under or merge. Franchises succeed or flop. And even when a franchise succeeds by all measures, it does not guarantee money is being made at every level.
I think it is a serious mistake to simplify the Chinese market for anime. The truth is, China will likely move to make their own domestic products sooner rather than later. The CCP actively sponsors a deep hatred for Japan and all things Japanese including anime, Japanese food and even people. There have been public murders of Japanese citizens in China as hate crimes and this hatred is taught in schools and endorsed by police and every level of society. China tolerates Japanese products and IP only the extent the CCP approves of them, an approval they can revoke at any time. Nobody in the anime industry in Japan would be surprised if they did.
Meta Offers Replacements for Bricked Meta Quest Headsets
My Quest 2 has been turned off and stored since November. I wanted to use it over the holidays but nothing I've read is particularly reassuring that it is safe to turn it on. What they have said is "most" affected should be good now. Should? Did they pull the bad update or just leave it in the queue and merely update their reset procedures?
The only positive thing I know is that it takes so long to boot, I have time to get into the menu and turn off auto update before it runs. Maybe that will prevent issues? Nobody has really said either way.
The lack of info on this from Meta is pretty sad.
