If we go by the story lore, not everyone who awakens abilities decides to even become a hunter. And some, like Lee Joohee, quit hunting after seeing how dangerous it can be.

It actually makes far more sense for more men to join and then press on and reach the highest hunter ranks. This mirrors real life. How many women take on dangerous and physically demanding jobs? Not many. Most animes usually gloss over this and we see young girls randomly becoming adventurers and somehow being overpowered martial combatants.

But really it could just be the author is more comfortable writing male characters. Who knows.

I enjoyed Frieren but didn't think it was all that deep. After the first time she realized "oh, hundreds of years have past and I didn't really notice" it just became kind of redundant. Thats why myself and others found it incredibly slow paced. Like, we get it... You're contemplating your existence relative to human lifespan. Cool. Now, moving on... Next what you're going to do is....continue contemplating it...some more...sigh. It did have enough funny moments and combat mixed in that I didn't completely tap out and I finished the whole story. But I literally fell asleep in the middle of one episode.

Might be some recency bias getting Avowed on this list? CP2077 should be on there instead. And unless you were trying to not add multiple games from the same series, Oblivion and Morrowind both crush almost everything on this list.

Also not sure if I call Prey an RPG? By that logic, Dishonored and Bioshock should be on here. Both have much more interesting worlds that some of these entries.
