I'm not so sure this time, although it will happen as you say with some folks. This is a nice entry game for Civ players, but I've played Civ since the DOS days and I abhor this game. Worse than Civ IV. But like that time, I will just play the previous version until the next one comes along. I learned my lesson here and will never just blindly buy a Civ game again. I just can't see this version generating the revenue to sustain itself.
I paid full price for the Founders Edition and I'm quite sure at this point, I will never drop another dime on DLC for this game. My play time in this game holds at the first 20 hours I tried it. Back to Civ 6.
Like some others, I'm already waiting on Civ VIII, which I want to be the improved version of Civ 6 I was expecting this time.
I too have been playing Civ since its inception. I hated Civ 4 and so far, Civ 7 is giving it a good run for my wasted money. I can't get to the good points of Civ 7 while overcoming the bad.
Civ 7 can be its own game, with its own future, but I I'd prefer to spend money on an improved Civ 6.
I don't like the look of Civ 7, which is so white/gray, I have difficulty identifying most terrain characteristics. I'm really put off by the mixing and leaders and Civs in Civ 7. I don't want to be Ben Franklin, founding Rome. I could go on, but many others have already complained and I agree with most of what I'm hearing.
There may be some game mechanics I grow to appreciate in Civ 7, but I'm not certain I'll spend the time to find out and am certainly considering whether its time to stop funding Firaxis.
I played 30 minutes of Civ 7 this morning. We'll have to see. I always have a hard time adjusting to the visual layout and this version is no different. I've been playing since the DOS versions and for many reasons, I hated Civ 4 more than all. But no need to re-hash that. I did like Civ 6 a lot - we ll into many releases. I highly suspect Civ 7 is more of the same. We'll have to wait for several releases with stupid names before Civ 7 is ready for prime time.
