Dexter: Original Sin Has A Big Problem With Dexter's Origin Story Due To The Original Series

I'm sure the writers knows what they're doing in respect of not straying from what was already established in the original show, that's why they are screen writers. The article writer is just bringing up stuff I'm sure the writers are well aware of and they certainly don't need a journalist to tell them how to do their job or write a good story.
