Having never used double XP tokens - I'm not sure why it's a big deal. You can max level pretty much anything in under a week of release. The trick is to stop thinking that the game requires skill and that people ever really play fair. The objective of the game is to exploit a button combo faster than the guy in front of you, have a slightly lower ping, and maintain financial superiority, and supplement your performance with expensive hardware long enough to have your style of cheating sanctioned.

No - that's an Activision thing. Activision is the publisher...they dictate how all that goes.

That has nothing to do with it. Camos are just mesh patterns, so they are easy to carry over. The problem isn't necessarily the mindset of the consumer, it's the publishing practices and attitude of the publishers and developers.
Losing the tokens, I agree....not a big deal - it's not like it takes any real effort to be good at an arcade rail shooter built on borrowed ideas and 15 year old assets - so levelling up is... Easy as it is. The thing that makes people mad about is, especially late stage of the game, the real money cost of their precious cosmetics and useless blueprints have XP tokens added to entice buyers. It's understandable that consumers (not gamers...consumers) are a little upset when the realize they've paid more money over time on diminishing returns.
They'll wake up one day. Maybe.

I'm not sure why people even buy cosmetics - it's a gimmick that pretends to keep the game fresh and supports the publisher (not the developer). It's common for cosmetics to be non-transferrable anyway. Best thing to do with CoD is if you *need* to play it - stick with the base model, skip battle passes (which is just cosmetics - you get the weapon unlocks anyway by play or drop), and hold your money for when Activision decides to rebuild the game from the ground up instead of copy-paste code and assets from 2007-2012...
