When I finally read the newest chapter and saw his arm. I was like it makes perfect as to why he allowed Lord of the Coast to take it. Used that opportunity to save Luffy to continue his mission to get him ready to be Nika and to completely sever his ties not only as a possible God's Knight but also Imu. Mind blowing.

Lol it was confirmed that not only is their time done but what they learned they had to leave it to the future pirates. And they literally set it up for Luffy and his crew. Now they didn't know it was them exactly but they new it was someone most likely had to do with Nika's fruit
