The Combiners would have more interesting to me if the American series had embraced the "Scramble City" concept Takara had been working on in Japan. The idea that Combiners were interchangeable between teams or even Affiliations was really neat- and we only got a couple instances in the G1 Series of a Combiner functioning without a limb (and it was always an arm).
