See AllXbox Kinect Finds New Purpose at Walmart
The biggest problem with the connect is it's not really a gaming device. At least not for something like the Xbox. I could see using it in conjunction with a VR setup to track your movements, but honestly full body gaming for a console is just a dumb idea. What it is, is a really cool cheap device for things like motion capture and some other video capture related endeavors.
Imagine if Microsoft developed a kit with two Kinects that be roughly 90° opposite each other and developed a piece of software that would stitch the two captures together into a higher resolution capture and you could use that for animation or something related.
But it's like a lot of Microsoft's r&d, it just goes to waste. Pay some amazing engineers to sit around and come up with great ideas, and then just selve them, or not use them at all, or have no idea on how to promote them, like the Microsoft zune.
