In before the tidalwave of dissenters come in to tell you that no Dragon Age has been perfect since Orgin, or whatever they'll claim.

Adding a Dragon Age to this list, let alone the header image, is asking for this sort of discourse...

Because this isn't a Microsoft Xbox article? Not every videogame article has to be about everything videogames all at once. It's called writing to a point, and people generally react poorly when that point is strayed from.

And you ask if this is a Sony site or something, but let's just go ahead and ignore the months and months of writing on this site that went out of it's way to trash Sony about just about anything it could find, and how that felt very bought by Microsoft. Yeah. Let's just ignore all that...

Feels misleading when things like Steamdecks have multiple iterations at multiple pricepoints, and most people will likely not want the base model.

For one thing, I didn't have these issues on my PS5 Pro, but all the issues with Unreal 5 and the Pro, yadda yadda, are a development team problem. Kojima would have never have shipped the game in a state where people could complain this much over the visuals and how they work.

Then there's the fact that this team did absolutely nothing amazing, and spends all of the credit roll thanking Kojima -which is proof that they did practically nothing except up porting visuals and making a new control scheme that, frankly, kinda sucked, especially towards the end of the game, during a very long sequence. The game is almost an exact 1:1 of the original; it's almost an entirely perfect copy of the chunk of Kojima's soul that he put into it, including all his quirks.

And to that thought, there's a hypothetical abut very on point question that comes from that: are they really going to be able to make a Metal Gear sequel of their own that will think up all the strange mechanics, obscure references and hidden metaphors, that Kojima pumps into his games? Because, personally, I don't think they can -and that's most of the magic of these games. Otherwise you have a generic stealth shooter. The fact that the only 2 changes I can tell that they made to this games script to up date it was talking about Godzilla Minus One's award win, and the change in one of Eva's lines from "fat" to "overweight" this team hasn't proven they have a clever thought in their head yet. A whole team. Not just one guy, like Kojima.

This proved nothing except Konami wanted to sell this teams practice project to recoup the cost. It was, by that effect, a tech demo we paid for. That's it.

This doesn't just effect Starlink subscribers (which I am one, it's 1 of 2 of the only options for real high speed internet in my area), not mentioned is is that this also effects T-Mobile customers, since the companies formed a partnership that came out of beta this summer to bring satellite functionality to the cell service

I'm starting to think underrated has gone through a definition change like gross did not that long ago.

I don't find Shale or Freya (the only 2 on the list I know, having known, but not played, the other games on thr list) to be that underrated at all. Not with how much they seemed liked and talked about across both their games fandoms.

Look, I'm OCD about unfogging maps in games too, but this game may have broken me of it. It's just not fun for me to explore a map that doesn't have anything going on at all in those spaces, and actively pushes you out of them while even attempting to just see the work the developers put into even having it in the game at all. Now all this fog talk is starting to get to be too much, because it's more like trauma bonding then doing cool things.

The map seriously should have been cornered off into sections, and the areas the majority of the unfilled space should have just had the animus defracting walls around it. Nothing about that says "this isn't Japan" when we can still see it from high places and marvel at it. What it does do is remove the unwarranted expectations that there's something we're missing not going to those spaces.

Every game is against history and a political push. It's the entire hook of the modern-day portion of the story that they're denying is still there, but keep hinting at.

This game actually lost my attention a month ago, and I'm just draggiing my feet to finish it. At this point I'm only playing to kill time and get the platinum so I can move on to Death Stranding 2.

Before Covid there was an idea passed around GameStop that they'd create play spaces for people to hang out in. The virus obviously put and end to that idea.

So maybe they've decided it's time to revisit it? The problem I see with it is unless they're going to find new spaces for their stores, most stores I've encountered in the decades I've shopped in GameStops, or EBs before they were gobbled up by the former, simply don't have the space to do a real serious hangout arcade experience. They'd need to make a weird move to invest in more real estate, which obviously leaves mall locations out unless they plan on taking bigger abandoned spaces. Knowing a thing or 2 about how a few current mall locations are doing, this feels unrealistic.

The best way I can describe most existing spaces doing anything like that would be like the old days when there were just some stand up console demo units put in a corner with specific games in them. It was never really something that special, overall. All the excitement of it was in there being a place to stand in the outside world and play something, that didn't ask for quarters.

Beyond any of that, the only thing I can come up with is some sort of partnership with another company. Like 1UP Arcade. Otherwise I'm not sure what to say.

I came here to say this. I know that just before Covid they were batting around the idea of creating play spaces in some of their stores where people could hang out. The idea had been scraped for obvious reasons.

Edit: when did protection paladins go overlooked? After the revamp, I think, about 15yrs ago they were everywhere. I'm assuming they dropped off again in the last 10 I haven't been playing?
